Family Participation
First Presbyterian School views the student's family as an integral element in scholastic achievement. Monthly meetings are scheduled so that parents may meet with administrators, teachers and counselors to view the student's portfolio and discuss academic progress. |
 |
This ensures that parents will stay fully informed of the student's pre-university achievements and further enable the student to reach his or her full potential. First Presbyterian School also takes extra measures to ensure that parents are notified if a student fails to complete an assignment or has been marked excessively absent.
 |
Attendance Requirements
First Presbyterian School maintains an interest in each student's attendance as the school believes poor attendance may have an adverse affect on each student's grades. As a result, parents and guardians will be issued a warning of expulsion of a student's poor attendance when the student has acquired 10 total absences.
|
A student is marked absent if the student failed to show for class, was more than 15 minutes late for class or was marked tardy twice for any particular class. Any student who has acquired 40 absences will be terminated from SEVIS and expelled from First Presbyterian School without a tuition refund .
Work Requirement
Students who attend First Presbyterian School may experience an increase in the amount of challenging schoolwork they receive and are required to complete. Be confident, however, that the staff and the school will provide all the support that the student needs. The students can find supplementary course material on campus, online or at the local library. Additionally, our computer lab provides internet access so that students can research a term paper or an extracurricular activity in their spare time.
First Presbyterian School also offers personal tutoring to students who experience academic difficulties. This ensures that students stay on track in fulfilling the admissions requirements of the University of California schools, Ivy League colleges and other American universities.
