Length of the Class Day

All students are expected to maintain six periods of class, Monday through Friday, with the exclusion of holidays and staff development days as noted on the school calendar.

Transfer Credit

First Presbyterian School accepts transfer credit from other accredited public and private institutions. Students must submit an official transcript of all completed work. Furthermore, students must pass departmental exams prior to the start of the new school year in order to ensure that they will be able to continue with their course of study at the required level. Students who cannot pass the departmental exam must enroll in the course again and will be granted credit upon successful completion of the course.

Summer School

Student may also elect to take courses in the First Presbyterian School Summer Studies Program, which offers course from many subjects of the school curriculum: academic core subjects, non-academic core subjects and elective courses. Courses taken in the summer program may be credited towards high school graduation.

Semester credit classes meet two hours per day for six or seven weeks. Year credit classes meet four hours per day for six or seven weeks.

First Presbyterian School strongly encourages students to enroll in summer classes in addition to the fall and spring semesters. Enrollment in summer school classes enables students to:

  • Transfer into FPS and be at the same level as other students in the same year
  • Have additional opportunities to prepare for college entrance requirements,
  • Further pursue courses of study in which they have personal interests.
